Art Prints are such a great way to decorate your home and brighten up a place. If you search on etsy, you will find tons and tons of beautiful and affordable art prints – some of them come in a digital format, so you can print it in every size you want!
Instead of buying art prints, I decided to make my own Illustrator art prints using Adobe Illustrator. I simply looked up cute designs and shapes that I liked and then illustrated them myself. I would love to buy every single art print I see, but they are often too expensive to buy, especially when I want every single one of them. So naturally some of the designs already exist and I simply created them myself for free. They are not as perfect as the original but hey – I am only at the beginning of learning! Illustrator is a great program, even for beginners. It is easy to use and pretty self-explanatory.
Here are a couple of tips when you are using Illustrator to make your own art prints:
- Search for fonts first! There are so many beautiful and free fonts out there and they are a million times cuter than your standard arial or times new roman fonts.
- If you would like to illustrate a more difficult shape (like a pineapple for example), try using a picture of a pineapple as a pattern – insert the picture in Illustrator and then, with the pencil tool, outline the shape of the pineapple. Easy!
- Don’t give up – I tried multiple times to create a print and failed. The first time can be tricky, but trust me, as time goes by, you will get the hang of it!
